Celebrating Earth Day With a Battle of Coins!

Celebrating Earth Day with a battle of coins!

In 1970, the first Earth Day gave voice to an emerging consciousness, channeling human energy toward environmental issues. Forty-six years later, we continue to lead with groundbreaking ideas and by the power of example. Earth Day achieves a rare political and social alignment, enlisting support from Republicans and Democrats, rich and poor, city slickers and farmers, tycoons, and labor leaders. (earthday.org).

To celebrate Earth Day (and Arbor Day) this year, we decided to raise money to plant new trees!

The means for donation? Coin Wars!

We split our staff into four teams, got a jar for each, and began our contest. The rules are as follows:

Coins are “positive”, paper dollars are “negative”. Add coins to your own team’s jar to add points. Add paper money to your competitors’ jars to subtract points from them.

After all was said and done, team 2 took the victory by a landslide with over 10,000 points! Between all teams—adding up all currency—we raised a total of $277.87! On top of that, CARDSource matched that amount, raising our total donation to $555.56.

All proceeds are going to the Earth Day Network with the goal of planting more trees. Each dollar raised will equal one tree planted!

This was a fun competition regardless of the cause, so we encourage everyone to hold their own Coin Wars competition—no matter what the cause.
